Reiki symbols are special to the
reiki practitioner such that it brings with the power
that is represented by the symbol. For a long time
these powerful Reiki symbols were kept secret and only
handed down from the Reiki Master to the Reiki
Practitioner in Reiki 2. However, now a days reiki
symbols are widely available on the Internet and
anyone can view it.
Different tests have shown that the Raiki symbols do
not carry any special powers on their own rather it is
the Reiki Initiation that gives it its power, they
still carry the ancient energy within it that becomes
"usable" with the Reiki Initiation.
Reiki symbols work in the same way as sacred mantra or
chants. They carry within them the energy of hundreds
of years of devotion and focus. Understanding is not
necessary for the power to work. Reiki symbols go
beyond the preconceived notions of possible and
impossible and helps the Reiki Practitioner to bring
about the healing and the client to experience the
result. The symbols add power to the already initiated
practitioner.
When the Reiki Master performs the attunement and
shows the symbols to the student (before graduating to
the Reiki Practitioner level or Reiki 2 level), the
Reiki Symbol is impressed on the students mind and
helps him experience (if not so much understand) the
inner meaning of the symbols. Similarly, when the
Reiki Practitioner draws a symbol, or visualizes on
it, it brings about similar results. Since Reiki is
all about being one or in alignment with the Universal
life force and using that energy to bring about
healing, the Reiki Symbols allow the Practitioner to
go beyond the logical mind and experience this
Oneness.
Three Reiki symbols
As Reiki became popular in the last hundred years or
so, many masters have appeared, and introduced their
own symbols along with it. In the traditional Japanese
Reiki, however, there are three Reiki Symbols that the
student receives during the Reiki 2 initiation
(attunement).
1. Cho Ku Rei (The
Power Symbol) The power symbol is reserved
specifically for healing the physical body. A reiki
healing session can very well be performed without it
but when used it supercharges the energy healing.
2. Sei He Ki (The
Mental and Emotional Symbol) The
mental/emotional symbol is used for healing and
purifying the mind. All diseases have their origins in
the subconscious mind. This symbol works on the mental
plane to bring about healing. This symbol is used for
healing and improving relationship problems with
Reiki, to clear a room from negative energy, or if
during a Reiki Healing session the client experiences
major emotional release this is used to clear it.
3. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
(The Distance Symbol) This powerful reiki
symbol goes across time and space and heal issues from
past, future or even other life times. When seen from
beyond our limited perspective of the five senses, 3
dimensions of space and 1 of time dissolves away (in
fact it dissolves away also in the laboratory of high
speed physicist or quantum physicist) and we enter a
realm of a-causal, non locality where
past-present-future exists simply as the eternal now.
Using this symbol allows the Reiki Practitioner to
enter that state and bring about healing across time
and space.
